LifewithFeyi: Hello and welcome to LWF. What is your name and what would you like us to know about you.

Nwosu Uche: My name is Nwosu Uche, I am an Engineer and I work with an engineering firm in Lagos. On the side I am designer and I am currently working on my side project.

LifewithFeyi: Good to have you! How has adulthood being for you so far?

Nwosu Uche: To be honest, naturally I do not consider myself as an adult but since the society have given us a meter to judge how long we have existed. I’ll say adulthood has been fun. Making decision about your life and being responsible for yourself and other people is fun if you see it that way. Some days feels bad and you can’t seem to know what is wrong, thats life. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.

LifewithFeyi: That’s a side to it, What’s the interesting thing about being an adult?

Nwosu uche: For me I think it will be having the power to design your life and live life on your terms. No one can question your decision about your life, unless you choose to let those question bother you. I think adulthood is when you enjoy life more, you have freedom to do whatever is beneficial to you.

LifewithFeyi: one of the amazing part. What has been some memorable experiences you’ve had as an adult?

Nwosu Uche: Out of all my memorable experiences the one that is still very vivid in my head is the day I made a very spontaneous decision to go to one of the Islands in Lagos by boat. I thought of the idea for like one minute and I decided instantly. That day I discovered the beauty of Life on water and right now I’m obsessed.

LifewithFeyi: That’s quite an adventure! What important lessons has adulthood taught you?

Nwosu Uche: It has taught me that I have all the power to make my life what I want it to be and also it has taught me that with great responsibility comes great power.

LifewithFeyi: That’s deep! What life hack would you give to young people preparing and anticipating adulthood?

Nwosu Uche: Life is hard because many of us expect it to be easy. Be self aware and know the things you can change about your life and the things that you cannot and have it at the back of your mind that you can be anything you want. Your focus in life should be on the process and the work you have to do to get to where you want to be in life. Most importantly, do not wait your whole life to start living. Live in the ‘NOW’ because ‘NOW’ is what we truly have, not today not tomorrow.

LifewithFeyi: wow! So much wisdom to digest. So here’s a fun question, if you were to choose between being a teenager and getting your bills paid for a year?

Nwosu Uche: With all I know now? Pleaseeeeeee I want to be a teenager again.

LifewithFeyi: Hahaha! Finally is adulthood really a scam?

Nwosu Uche: Big original legit scam. What is adulthood really?

Lifewithfeyi: Good day ma’am, welcome to lifewithfeyiblog. we would like to know your name and what you would like us to know about you?

Hauwa Ajagbe: Thank you for having me. My name is Hauwa Ajagbe, some of my friends call me Naomi. I am a Nurse working in General Hospital Lagos.

Lifewithfeyi: Alright nurse Naomi, there’s a common belief about how stressful adulthood is. How true is that? And for you how has adulthood being so far?

Hauwa Ajagbe: Truly, many people say it that ‘don’t grow up it’s a trap’ I have said it before myself. I don’t want to say it’s stressful and I also don’t want to say it’s not stressful, But one thing I know is that Adulthood has it’s own challenges. Infact every stage of our lives has its own challenges. There are certain things that are peculiar to particular stages of life. Second question about how has it been for me, I must say I have been coping. At a point I felt like I couldn’t do it, but then I understood it’s part of the journey of life that every one will go through. So I summoned courage and told myself we will give it all it takes.

LifewithFeyi: Wow! That’s the spirit. So ma’am what are the things or let me say the few things that are interesting about adulthood?

Hauwa Ajagbe: For me the only interesting thing is freedom to make decisions.

LifewithFeyi: That’s quite important.

Hauwa Ajagbe: You have the freedom to make decisions that will guide your journey in life. Another person is not given that privilege but you.

LifewithFeyi: Yeah the power is in your hands. Out of the many memories, what memorable experience have you had being an adult?

Hauwa Ajagbe: Many memorable moments. One is being asked by my parents what I want not what they want, Also going where I want to.

LifewithFeyi: Cool! What important lesson has adulthood taught you?

Hauwa Ajagbe: You can’t just wait on life to be good to you, you have to take the steering wheel and make your life good

LifewithFeyi: Indeed you are the driver of your life… So here is a fun question, If you are to choose between being a teenager again to correct some things or getting all your bills paid for a year. Which would you choose?

Hauwa Ajagbe: I would say being a Teenager again with the lessons I have learnt so far.

LifewithFeyi: Impressive choice I must say ma’am. What life hacks would you give teenagers preparing to become adults and young adults that are just trying to get the hang of the whole thing?

Hauwa Ajagbe: Dont be stereotyped or rigid, be flexible and have an open mind.
• Learn skills that are not even related to your course.
• Make your passion you purpose, develop it and stay true to it.

• Dream and dream big.

LifewithFeyi: wow! So much depth. Thank you so much ma’am for joining us today. One last one, Is adulthood really a scam?

Hauwa Ajagbe: Not at all, I guess we were not just ready for what was coming. Most of us had what we wanted at our beck and call, So the moment we were left to ourselves we saw it as a trap.
For me I would say I was not ready for what was coming despite being told. We always believed that we could do what we want once we become adults without knowing that it has its own price.

Adulting 101 : Is adulthood really a scam?

Helooooo ladies and gents, it’s been a little while but I am back like I never left. By the way people of the world, adulting is stressful!!!! I mean what happened to the times when we were just kids and we had nothing to worry about because everything was provided at the beck of the call. What happened to times when you sleep without a care in the world knowing you have no bills to pay, no deadlines to meet… And the list goes on and on.

And to think that when we were little we used to wish we could grow up faster and now adulthood is extremely stressful for most people ( sobs quietly…. Silence…. Resume) honestly if you ask a random person what they wish for, they tell you to be young again. I meannnn, to not have to pay bills, to not worry about finances, to not worry about relationships and a whole lot of stuff.

I hate to be a spoiler, but it’s never going to happen, you’re never going to be a kid again, you’re still going to have to deal with those stuff you don’t want to because it’s part of life. Instead the way to cope and not feel overwhelmed about these things is the solution. Because these things are inevitable and the earlier you realize that the better for everyone.

Something very important that is needed to be done is how to manage yourself, your resources and people around to get the best result. Because it is very possible to be a grown up and not have to worry about some stuff that are unnecessary like relationships, like how to enjoy life how to stay far away from bad vibes.

One thing that has always worked is coordination and organization. You have issues with finance, have you checked how you spend? Have you looked into what you are quite good at and can generate more money ( I mean social media is a very good example)
Most of the problem comes from lack of organisation. Sit down, evaluate these things, come to the honest point of conclusion and map what you need to take out and what you need to add in. I know it’s not as easy as I am putting it because I am even just getting the hang of the whole thing but one thing I know is that it works. Better than being depressed, better than being angry at the world, better than even doing nothing.

A wise woman once said and I quote : “You don’t really get results until you take steps” and another wise woman also said : Adulting is actually not a scam, you just need to get the hang of it and make it work” ( yeah! You guessed right that’s me… Winks)
